Pink Peppercorn is a dried form of Peruvian Peppertree, so it is also well-known as Pink Berry or Baie Rose. Although a peppercorn is the dried fruit, pink peppercorns came to be called such as because they resemble peppercorns, and because they, too, have a peppery flavor.
Pink peppercorns lend foods a different kind of heat, closer to chiles than black pepper. They have the same peppery bite, but it's wrapped in a sweet fruity flavor reminiscent of a berries. It is worth it to taste.
